Yesterday I finally put the finishing touch on our guest room, a DIY COTTAGE sign for above the bed. So I wanted to do a quick photo tour of the room that I officially love more than my own bedroom!
This room came together fairly quickly once I had a vision. A vision that was all focused around a large cottage sign that I saw at a local vintage decor store. This sign was perfect but it was WAY overpriced, I am talking $200 overpriced so naturally I knew I could make it myself!
I knew I wanted to go with a natural black and white themed guest room. So the farmhouse style bed frame I found at Target was perfect! I topped it off with some white bedding and Homegoods throw pillows to give is a cozy comfy feel!
The white dresser was also a DIY project that I will soon be writing about. It was a dark walnut color until I refinished it with white Annie Sloan chalk paint. All it took was a little bit of paint, wax and one afternoon to turn it into the perfect white dresser for our guest room.
The floating shelves were a nice way to balance out the height of the dresser and I had fun decorating them with odds and ends from Target, TJMaxx and Michael’s. The “Today is a good day for a good day” sign was a custom print from Etsy that I paired with a simple black frame.
Another Homegoods find was an awesome oversized wall clock, my rooms are never finished without a clock . . or two or three :). Since the bed takes up most of the room I needed to add more wall decor, the large clock, large cottage sign and shelves made that easy.
The blanket ladder came from our garage! It’s a ladder I had my eyes on from our workshop and after months of asking Justin he finally gave it up! Its a perfect fit don’t you think?!
Finally, my favorite touch to this guest room is my wedding bouquet that my mom and aunt dried out and placed in a beautiful distressed shadow box for me!
I love this guest room and had so much fun putting it together! Now, who is coming over for a visit?!
Did I mention this room is Susie approved and loves to stay with our guests?!
Hope you enjoyed!
Until next Sunday!
