I know most people wait until at least after Thanksgiving to decorate for the Holidays and normally I do to but this year I just couldn’t wait. I feel like every year we start “holiday” earlier and earlier, I especially feel this way working in retail. When I purchased our King of Christmas tree in early November I needed to set it up right away in fear it would be too big and I would need to exchange for the slim size. Once it was set up I did not want to take it down and after I fell in love with the flocked look I wanted more.
In the past I had tried faux garland on our mantel but it just never laid right but I decided to give it another try. I purchased this one from Walmart and as soon as I took it out of the box I thought I made a HUGE mistake. The flock was EVERYWHERE, it was stiff and not corporative just like the previous garlands I purchased that ended up back at the store. I wanted to give this one more of a try because of how pretty it was so I took it outside to start fluffing and bending the wires to lay flat. Once I got it somewhat good enough I lied it on the mantel, it still needed some messing with to lay flat but I was so surprised with how nice it looked. I mean for $12 I didn’t expect much but now I really like it!
First I just added out stocking holders that I got from the Target Dollar spot. I am grateful for our large mantel because the garland took up most of the room. Then I added the gold candlesticks for some height and large battery candles for some warmth. I could have been done here but I wanted to add some more color. I told myself next time I went out I would stop at Michael’s to get some faux red berries. Then I had that “omg Alli” moment when I realized I have not one but 4 large bushes out front of my house FULL of red berries. Free and fresh what could be better!
I think the mantel turned out great and since its still November I am sure I will change it 10 times before Christmas 🙂
Very cute 💕
